Meet Me at the Well

As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after Thee
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to be close to Thee.

Psalm 42

The message of Hope...

Esther 8

He Turned My Mourning into Dancing
Removed my sackcloth and clothed me with Joy.

Psalm 30:11-12

According to Esther chapter 8, how were each of these people rewarded for their deeds?
Haman:

Esther

Mordecai:

The Jewish People:

The Spiritual Picture:

Now all these things happened unto them for examples and they are written for our admonition upon whome the ends of the world are come. I Cor 10:11

Under the Old Law: Death

God has sent out a Decree:

God's Decree:
The soul that sinneth it shall die. Ezekiel 18:4

How is the law that the Jews were under similar to God's first decree?
See: Romans 3:23

Ezekiel 18:4

Ecclesiastes 3:15

Galatians 3:10

Deut 27:26

Isaiah 64:6

Why the LAW cannot be changed:

The law knows no mercy for the violator of it.
If we are saved it cannot be at the expense of God's character, or by the violation of His word in any manner whatsoever. (Ironsides)
The original decree cannot be changed because it stands...God cannot save us today by perfection because we cannot offer it.
God cannot save us by imperfection because He cannot lower His standard. We belong to a lost race. This is the perdicament of humanity. (McGee, Esther pg 574)

Under the New Decree: Life

The Mediator: Esther
What does the king once again extend to Esther?

What is her touching plea?

if the thing seem right before the king and I be pleasing in His sight."

Esther pleads that the King would "Deal with them according to your estimate of me."
How is this like what Jesus does for us?
See John 17:23-Jesus intercessory prayer for us

You cannot do anything to soften God's heart, Jesus already softened it for you!

Another Decree has gone out:
Be ye reconciled to God: 2 Cor. 5:20
Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ Acts 16:31

Ambassadors of the New Decree

An Urgency to Share the Message

What message are the heralds given?

How far are they to spread the message?

How urgent is the message?

How does the message change the law, what right are the Jews granted?

In what way are we given the right to spiritually defend ourselves under the new law?

How is this similar to the Gospel?

What commandment did Jesus give to us in Matthew 28:18-20?

Describe how the command given was like the Great Commission given in Matthew 28:18-20,in each of these descriptions:

    His Commandment was urgent

    His Commandment was important

His Commandment was to be far spread

His Commandment was to be written into every language in the kingdom

The Message can be either accepted or rejected

His Commandment was commissioned by the King of Kings

The Problem with Lethargy

"What would have been thought of one of the couriers of Ahasuerus who forgetting the urgency and importance of his message, loitered among the leafy bowers of the wayside or amused himself with the sights of the way; losing valuable time; forgetting that hundreds of lives depended upon his errand being fulfilled ere the thirteenth day of the month of Adar. Would not such a one deserve the severest censure, if not death itself?" (:Ironsides pg 94)

How does this comment from H Ironsides make you feel regarding the great commission command given to the Church today?

How is God working in your heart today regarding this lesson?
