How Boards can Assist Ministries

If your church has a website, Web-based Message Boards are a great way for you and your  church to begin a Barnabas ministry among the members. In many churches there are members who are isolated at home for a variety of reasons.  Young moms may find they are isolated at home with a two year old, illness can cause a member to be sidelined, and Seniors  may find it hard to get out on a regular basis.  Having a Message Board Ministry can help facilitate a spirit of unity and encouragement among the Believers as we are exhorted to do in Colossians 2:2.

However, like anything on the Internet, most tools bring with them safety concerns. It is not wise to reveal too much personal info online because we don't know who's reading what's posted. Therefore message boards should be password protected.  This can make the software for such a ministry too costly for the average church or church member to afford.

In discussing this concern with a friend, we may have found an affordable solution (and the tools are good too!).  It allows you to password protect and have a lot of control over how the boards are linked.  We hope to offer this to churches either for free or on a donation basis.

Basically, we'd want any church to be able to afford this Barnabas Ministry Message Boards tool.  For instance, if your church is smaller than 100 people, we’d like to be able to offer this tool for free.  Then according to size of your church, the suggested donation would vary. The important issue becomes bandwidth. The amount of server space used by a mega-church would dwarf that of a small body. We believe that this tool could increase ministry and greatly benefit the churches that have websites online.
